| We fully endorse Gillware Data Recovery for all of your hard drive restoration needs. Here are a couple lessons learned. |
| First, if your back up device ever acts funny, FIND OUT WHY! I was backing up my machine to an external USB hard drive. After changing my USB configuration, I noticed errors reported, but attributed them to the USB issues. |
| A few weeks later, half way through scanning a page, everything froze. The worst had happened - - my hard drive failed. I first thought I would just pull out the back up drive and at least I would have my data from the few weeks before the USB change. See the first lesson as to how that went. |
| I started searching on the web for sources to recover the data from my dead drive. There were several companies with lots of hits and price tags in the thousands. |
| Along the search, I found Gillware! They have a nice website that told me what I wanted and needed to hear - - a VERY reasonable fixed fee that I only paid if they were successful. The main reason you might be reading this is because of my next step in the search. I tried to find external references to the company, but only found a few. |
| I found that they are members of the BBB Online and I read how they saved the webmaster at Ourfamilyheart.com |
| That sold me. I mailed them my dead hard drive along with a new drive. They promptly emailed me when they received the drive. About a week later (I went with the standard service), I got an email that they were SUCCESSFUL and they asked me to give them a call. |
| A very nice and helpful person started rattling of files and directories recovered and even confirmed recovery of the page I scanned before it died! They shipped back the recovered data on my new drive and the only thing I lost was my outlook express messages (fortunately, an alternate backup of that was still around). So, rather than starting over from scratch, I WAS SAVED BY GILLWARE! |
| Although very minor in the scheme of life, I will mention one thing. When they shipped the drive back, I was of course anxious to verify the state of recovery. But, because they sent it via UPS requiring a signature in person, I was delayed a day to arrange delivery to where I could sign for it. |
| I hope you can learn from the first lessen and never need the second one. But, if you ever need to recover data of a dead hard drive, I hope Gillware can save you, as they saved me! Thanks Gillware! |
